BONHAM - Callisburg had 23 players back from its 2008 team that went three rounds deep in the playoffs, and its experience showed against the Warriors and first-year head coach Dale Trompler.
Bobby Dorman accounted for 251 yards of total offense, as the Wildcats cruised to an eventual 41-12 win Friday night.
Dorman ran 10 times for 124 yards and two touchdowns while completing 11 of 19 passes for 127 yards and two more scores with an interception in which Callisburg (1-0) got the ball right back after causing a fumble, one of four in the game for the Warriors (0-1).
Bonham quarterback Kyle Washington completed 14 of 25 passes for 125 yards, including a 7-yard touchdown pass to Jake Price with 17 seconds left in the game for the final margin. Washington also ran 14 times for 91 yards..
The Warriors look to build on a strong second half in which they held Callisburg to six points, none in the fourth quarter. They were only out-gained 352-272 on the night, but a lot of the yardage came when the game was already out of reach.
Sanger (0-1), who lost to Lovejoy in its opener, comes to town Friday night.

BELLS - Things didn’t look too bright for Bells after a bad snap on its first possession of the 2009 season, but it was smooth sailing soon after, as the Panthers shut out Savoy 59-0 at home on Thursday night to end a 19-game losing streak in a contest called with 2:10 remaining due to lightning..
Kolby Milner led the way with 159 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns, as Bells (1-0) accumulated 511 yards on the ground. Josh Fagan ran three times for 60 yards and two scores, as seven different Panther players scored. Chisum (1-0), a 16-0 winner against Anna visits Bells on Friday.
It was the first win for second-year Bells coach Charles Boles, whose team finished 0-10 and 0-7 in District 11-2A play in 2008 but does inherit members from a 10-0 junior varsity squad.
Savoy was unable to take advantage of its field position after the opening fumble and finished with minus-27 yards of total offense. The Cardinals won’t be an official varsity team until the University Scholastic League’s next alignment in February.
